Hello All,
Well, I have some pretty exciting ideas and things going on. I'm thinking it'd be fun to add a couple extra pages for recipes, chatting, and picture-taking. What do you think? Actually, I'm pretty excited about it, really...although this new blogger set-up is hard to get used to. Anywho, if you have any ideas on anything, please let me know!

So, I was just reading in John 13 verses 34-35 and it says: "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another."
We all hear about how important it is to love each other...but unless you are given some practical examples it pretty much goes in one ear and out the other. However, this is in fact a commandment that Jesus Himself gave us, so we know it's very important to understand.

I want people to know that I am a disciple of Jesus.
But how would people ever guess that I am a follower of God if even just in my speech I talk disrespectfuly and snap at people or put people down? How simple is it to explode at the slightest peep from a sibling? Uh,very. We have to constantly be praying that God guards our tongues, that we just calm down and refrain from saying that jabbing remark.
Love is patient and kind. Love does not act unbecomingly, and is not provoked. So, those are some to work on.
I would continue on the different characteristics of love but then I'd go on another tangent. I'm really trying to focus on the being loving-to-people-thing. Anyway, for us girls it seems to be a harder thing to love other girls. I don't know why, but it is. We are always doing things out of spite or being all jealous of other girls. We get into alot of "catfights" too. Now why are we so nasty to each other? Part of it is insecurity....actually...a big part is insecurity. We always think, "that other girl is so much prettier than I am" so already I have a dislike toward her. ............... Get rid of that insecurity and welcome her as a friend and sister! She's a heck of a lot more insecure than you are! And chances are she's had a really tough life and has had lot's of friends turn on her and talk about her. So think about her side! Reach out and be the only real friend she's ever had that would never speak ill of her and would defend her and love her.

There are really lot's and lot's of everyday things that go on where you just have to say"forget about me" and come out of your little selfish shell. Prove that you really are a disciple of Jesus by watching what you say and how you act and how much love you pour on people. This takes lot's and lot's and lot's of prayer and staying in constant communication with God asking Him to help you and guard your tongue.

With that... rather lenghthy note, I will say goodnight. This is a subject you really literally can spend your whole life praying about so instead of talking about it, let's practice it! God bless you all and I'm praying for you!

Love from your sister in Christ, Miriam

Hi Miriam! I don't know if you remember me, but my name is Lyndsi and I came to your house with the Luekens a couple of Sundays ago. The Bible study was awesome and the best thing I have been to in a long time. Anyway, just wanted to thank you for your encouragement about loving other girls. It really is the hardest thing and your reminder was very timely!
God Bless!
